  • Department for Information Qualification and Lifelong Learning

The Department of Information, Qualification, and Lifelong Learning (DIQLL) is a key unit of Konstantin Preslavsky University of Shumen. It is the successor to the Institute for Teacher Training in Varna—established in 1955 as the second of its kind in the country—which also explains its current location.

DIQLL provides professional qualifications for educators in line with national regulations and the university’s internal policies. Teachers, principals, and other education professionals from across the country can obtain Professional Qualification Degrees (PQDs) and participate in continuing education programs. These include courses, seminars, training sessions, workshops, schools, lectures, webinars, and master classes. The latter serve as an interactive format where innovative teachers present their pedagogical achievements, share successful practices, discuss current trends, and explore new technologies and methods.

The department also organizes a variety of forums—such as scientific and practical conferences, plenary sessions, and round tables—where participants can present research results, creative projects, or innovative professional practices.

In addition, DIQLL offers specialized training in methodology, pedagogy, psychology, subject-specific teaching, and educational management. Beyond its standard programs, it also develops tailored training upon request, providing methodological support to schools and educators.

For more than 70 years, DIQLL has been a leader in lifelong learning for teachers, principals, and education specialists both in Bulgaria and abroad. With its strong traditions and highly qualified faculty, the department continues to deliver high-quality continuing education with a forward-looking perspective.
