They are focused on meeting the real needs of Northeastern Bulgaria and the country as a whole, by preparing highly qualified, flexible, and adaptable professionals — mathematicians, computer scientists, economists, and teachers in mathematics, informatics, and information technology — ready to meet the challenges of today’s world.

The Faculty offers accredited educational programs in the following fields of study, recognized by the National Evaluation and Accreditation Agency (NEAA): Mathematics; Informatics and Computer Science; Economics; and Pedagogy of Teaching (Mathematics and Informatics). Additionally, NEAA-accredited doctoral programs are available in Methods of Teaching Mathematics and Informatics, Algebra and Number Theory, Mathematical Analysis, Computational Mathematics, and Informatics.

The Faculty is organized into the following departments – Algebra and Geometry, Computer Informatics, Computer Systems and Technologies and Economics and Mathematical Modeling. Research at the Faculty spans a wide range of scientific fields. Faculty members, along with PhD students and undergraduates, actively participate in both research and educational projects.

To support these efforts, the Faculty has established several specialized research laboratories, including those for Computer Hardware and Networks, Computer Security, Multimedia Systems, Computer Algebra and Applications of Geometry, Mathematical Modeling, and DidacticsAll laboratories are equipped with modern computing equipment and integrated local area network infrastructure, ensuring optimal conditions for high-quality research and practical training.

The Faculty’s facilities are continuously modernized and include the entire second floor, most of the third, fourth, and fifth floors of Building 3 at Konstantin Preslavsky University of Shumen. The building houses eight computer labs, lecture halls, seminar rooms, and specialized training labs with advanced teaching and research technology. Students have unrestricted access to the computer labs for independent study and research outside of scheduled classes.
