Като част от инициативите по Националната научна програма „Развитие и утвърждаване на българистиката в чужбина“ на 23 юни 2023 г. се състоя публичната лекция на доц. д-р Каталина Пую (Букурещки университет) на тема: Българската литература и нейният превод на румънски език след 1945 г. Събитието, организирано от Катедрата по история и теория на литературата, предостави възможност за среща с постиженията на чуждестранната българистика в Румъния и провокира интереса на академичната общност, на студенти, докторанти, учители и ученици, преводачи. Доц. д-р Каталина Пую бе представена на аудиторията от проф. д-р Страшимир Цанов, Ръководител на Катедрата.
Доц. Пую е преподавател по български език, литература и култура в Катедрата по руска и славянска филология на Факултета по чужди езици на Букурещкия университет, автор на българистични и компаративистични изследвания, съставител на издания по история на българската литература, съавтор в антологийни поредици за художествени текстове. Тя е и преводач от български на румънски език – нейни са преводите на романите на Георги Господинов „Естествен роман“ (Un roman natural (изд. 2011, 2022) и „Физика на тъгата“ (Fizica tristeții, (изд. 2021).
Като утвърден изследовател на българската литература и култура доц. Каталина Пую представи динамиката на преводната рецепция на българската литература. Тя насочи вниманието към академичните инициативи за систематизиране на преводните творби от български автори. Както посочи доц. Пую, „През 2011 г. колективът на Катедрата по славянски филологии на Букурещкия университет издаде книгата „Библиография на преводите на славянските литератури на румънски език от 1945 до 2011 г.“. В тази книга са представени всички български автори, преведени на румънски език през този период, със заглавията на творбите, годината на издаване и преводача. Забелязва се, че преди 1989 г. се превеждат значителен брой автори, като най-важните имена на българската класика са преведени. След 1989 г. преведените книги намаляват рязко. През последните години интересът на румънския читател нараства и са преведени повече съвременни български автори, публикувани от най-важните румънски издателства.“
В лекцията си Каталина Пую обърна внимание на трайното преводно присъствие до края на 80-те г. на ХХ в. на автори, съставящи литературния канон, и представи пред публиката няколко поетически творби на Пейо Яворов в превод на румънски език. Акцентите върху състоянието на преводната рецепция на класическата и съвременната българска литература на румънски език породи след лекцията и дискусия за степента на културното опознаване и начините за неговото укрепване, за утвърдените и развиващи се образи на Другия в българо-румънския интеркултурен диалог.
В следващи разговори и академични срещи доц. Пую разгърна по-подробно своите тези за тенденциите в българистичните изследвания в чужбина, за читателския интерес и преводаческите инициативи в румънската културна среда.
